HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing – Maximum Benefits with Minimal Downtime!

HALO is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser, that delivers both non-ablative and ablative wavelengths to the same microscopic treatment area. HALO can simultaneously target skin imperfections on both the top layer of your skin and the deeper tissue underneath the surface. The unique HALO technology provides patients with maximum results with minimal downtime.

What are the Benefits of HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing?

HALO Immediately Improves Skin Appearance:

HALO is a premium that addresses uneven skin tone, visible signs of aging, enlarged pores, and skin discolouration on the surface. Patients notice an improvement in their skin’s complexion in as little as five days post-treatment.

HALO Continues to Improve Your Skin’s Complexion Over Time:

The HALO laser penetrates to the deeper layers of the skin, which triggers collagen and elastin production deep in the dermis. Over time, this triggers collagen and elastin production deep in the dermal layers allowing for a more youthful appearance.

HALO treatments can pull deeper deposits of pigment that exist in the lower dermis to the surface that slough off during the healing process post-treatment. This is highly beneficial, as these deeper deposits of pigment eventually come to the skin’s surface as one ages. Therefore, with HALO these deeper deposits are treated at the same time as the superficial deposits of pigment on the surface!

HALO Requires Minimal Downtime:

In comparison to other laser resurfacing technologies, HALO has little downtime. Patients can apply makeup 48 hours post-treatment, and see improvements in their complexion in as little as five to seven days post-treatment. Complete healing may take up to two weeks, however, most patients return to their normal daily activities in three days.

HALO Has Long-Lasting Results:

With an appropriate skincare routine, the results of a single HALO treatment can last for years. For patients who would like to maintain their results, it is important that they use sunscreen daily to protect their skin from redeveloping pigmentation. For improved complexion, we recommend a HALO laser skin resurfacing treatment annually.

HALO Is the Most Innovative Laser Resurfacing Technology Available:

Another benefit of HALO skin resurfacing is that the treatments are extremely innovative and highly customizable, which makes it one of the safest lasers for darker skin tones and patients with melasma.

HALO laser skin resurfacing is custom-tailored to the needs of the patient and has settings to safely treat each patient based on individual skin type. It’s important to schedule a consultation with one of our experienced medical aestheticians who can assess your complexion in person to determine if HALO laser skin resurfacing is an appropriate laser skin treatment for you.

Common Questions About HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing:

How Is HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing Different from Other Laser Treatments?

Halo’s unique dual-wavelength technology, resurfaces about 25 to 30 percent of the skin, while other gentler lasers available on the market only resurface 5 percent. This means the results of your treatments will be much more noticeable, dramatic, and effective compared to less powerful laser treatments.

Who Is a Good Candidate for HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing?

The ideal candidate for HALO treatments is looking to treat signs of hyperpigmentation, sun damage, fine lines, and textural concerns. HALO is mostly used to treat the face, neck, and decolletage, and acts as a non-surgical alternative for treatments such as facelifts and neck lifts.

HALO laser skin resurfacing is not recommended for patients looking to treat their abdomen, back, or flank side. Patients who are breastfeeding and/or pregnant are not candidates for HALO.

Is the HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment Painful?

Prior to the treatment, your medical aesthetician may apply a topical numbing cream to help alleviate any discomfort from the HALO treatment. The numbing cream is removed after a minimum of 30 minutes and then your aesthetician will use the HALO device to measure and scan your face to improve the efficacy of the treatment before beginning to use the HALO laser.

During the laser portion of the treatment, patients may feel warm and a tingly sensation from the numbing cream. The HALO handpiece includes integrated air cooling, that provides cold air across the skin during treatment. This greatly helps reduce the feeling of heat on the skin during treatment and reduces discomfort.

Immediately after the treatment, patients report a burning sensation that feels like a sunburn. This sensation typically passes within several hours, and ice is applied to the surface of the skin to help alleviate any discomfort. Patients are typically swollen and red for the first 48 hours and must refrain from applying makeup during this time.

What Are the Results of HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing?

HALO addresses a multitude of skin concerns and is an amazing anti-aging treatment! HALO helps correct issues such as:

  • Discoloration
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sun damage
  • Scarring
  • Wrinkles and fine lines

How Often Do You Need to Do HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Depending on the severity of a patient’s skin concerns, multiple HALO sessions may be recommended. However, most patients find that with one HALO laser skin resurfacing treatment there is a significant improvement to their skin’s complexion.

It is recommended that patients support their results of HALO by having the procedure performed on an annual basis. However, with a medical grade skincare routine, and the daily use of sunscreen some patients may extend the results of their HALO treatment for several years.

We offer complimentary consultations with their medical aestheticians who specialize in HALO laser skin resurfacing. HALO is available at our Burlington, Oakville Dermatology and Briarwood clinic locations.

Not Sure If HALO Is Right For You?

If you’re not sure if HALO is right for you, there are other laser skin resurfacing treatments available! It’s always a good idea to have a consultation with a medical aesthetician to review which laser treatment is appropriate for your skin type and to recommend a treatment plan suitable for you.

Other Types of Laser Treatments:

BroadBand Light (BBL) Laser:

What is BBL Laser?

BBL is the world’s most powerful Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) device on the market! BBL is a photo facial treatment used to treat a wide variety of skin concerns such as:

Where Can You Use BBL?

BBL can treat skin concerns on the face, neck, decolletage, hands, and other parts of the body.

Are BBL Treatments Painful?

Most patients describe a hot, snapping sensation with each pulse of the laser. BBL treatments are highly customizable, so the strength of the treatment can be adjusted to the patient’s comfort level. Following BBL treatment, patients may be red and slightly swollen but can alleviate any discomfort by applying ice to the treated areas.

Is There Any Downtime Associated with BBL Treatments?

After having a BBL treatment, your skin may be red for a couple of hours and swelling may be noticeable for up to 24 hours. Patients can apply makeup the same day as receiving a BBL treatment, and return to their normal activities. Over the next few days, pigment from the skin comes to the surface and sloughs off in a consistency similar to coffee grinds. During this time, patients can use a gentle exfoliant to help remove excess debris and help reveal their clearer complexion!

How Many BBL Treatments Are Recommended?

Depending on the severity of your skin concerns, your medical aesthetician may recommend multiple BBL treatment sessions. Patients are typically recommended a minimum of 3 treatments, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart to allow the skin to fully heal between treatments. Most patients after completing a series of BBL treatments will maintain their results with one to two treatments per year.

Clear and Brilliant Laser:

What is Clear and Brilliant Laser?

Clear and Brilliant is a non-invasive laser treatment used to treat uneven texture, improve fine lines, and help shrink pores. Clear and Brilliant works by delivering thermal energy to the skin’s surface triggering a would-like healing response in the skin. This results in the formation of newer skin cells on the skin’s surface, and an overall brighter complexion!

Where Can You Use Clear and Brilliant?

Clear and Brilliant is a facial laser treatment, but can also be used on the neck and decolletage. You should meet with a medical aesthetician to discuss the areas you are looking to treat and to determine if Clear and Brilliant is an appropriate treatment for you!

Are Clear and Brilliant Treatments Painful?

Numbing cream is topically applied to the skin prior to the laser portion of the treatment. Once the numbing cream is removed, your medical aesthetician may divide your face into quadrants to evenly allocate passes with the Clear and Brilliant laser in each portion of the face. The numbing cream helps alleviate any discomfort associated with the treatment.

Is There Any Downtime Associated With Clear and Brilliant Laser Treatments?

Patients may feel slightly warm after the treatment, but this will dissipate within a couple of hours. Over the next few days, patients will notice that their skin may feel a little rough to the touch, but this will improve over the next few days. Following a Clear and Brilliant treatment, patients can immediately apply makeup and resume their normal activities.

How Many Clear and Brilliant Treatments Are Recommended?

Your medical aesthetician may recommend a series of Clear and Brilliant treatments to achieve the desired result. Most patients complete a minimum of 4 – 6 treatments spaced at least 2 weeks apart. After completing a series of Clear and Brilliant, you can maintain your results by having at least 2 Clear and Brilliant treatments per year. It’s important to speak with a medical aesthetician prior to receiving a Clear and Brilliant treatment to determine if it’s an appropriate treatment for you.
