Procedure and Recovery
Otoplasty is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation, ensuring your comfort throughout the process. The procedure involves making small incisions behind the ears to access and sculpt the cartilage, allowing for precise adjustments to ear shape and position. The ears are then secured in their new position with internal sutures, resulting in a more desirable appearance.
Recovery from cosmetic ear surgery generally involves wearing a headband to support and protect the ears, particularly at night. Most clients can return to normal activities within a week, with full activity resumption in about six weeks. Any discomfort can be managed with prescribed medication.
Complications are rare and may include infection, asymmetry, or changes in sensation. Following your plastic surgeon’s aftercare instructions will minimize these risks.
