The HALO™ Hybrid Fractional Laser

The HALO™ is a hybrid fractional (a combination or dual laser) which means it can be custom controlled depending on desired aesthetic results and that it delivers both ablative and non-ablative technology combined.  This procedure is available at our Olde Oakville, Downtown Burlington and Midtown (Briarwood) Oakville locations.

What is the HALO™
Resurfacing Laser?

The Sciton HALO™ is a hybrid fractional laser that delivers ablative and non-ablative wavelengths (imagine a combination of two lasers in one) that can dramatically improve dull, environmentally damaged, and tired-looking skin without the downtime of older resurfacing procedures. The HALO™ also treats many skin conditions such as aging, wrinkles, blemishes, visible vessels, and broken capillaries associated with spider veins. HALO™ can treat all skin areas, including the face, neck, chest, hands, and legs.

What is a fractional laser?  It only treats a fraction of your skin. The ablative laser focuses on the superficial layer of your skin and removes damaged skin and stimulates the remaining skin to build healthy tissue. It rejuvenates the adjacent skin. The ablative energy precisely removes damage in the skin’s upper layers while the non-ablative energy penetrates deeper to selectively target vessels and deep dermal pigment, and stimulates collagen production.

Every patient’s individual skin needs vary and HALO™ can be finely tuned to treat your condition on a level with an unprecedented degree of control. GraceMed doctors can fully customize treatment parameters for the downtime you have available and the results you desire.

Halo™ utilizes both ablative and non-ablative laser energy to enhance skin results while minimizing downtime.

NON-ABLATIVE

1470 nm laser is tunable from 200 to 700 microns, the optimal depth for treating the epidermis and papillary dermis for the appearance of pigment irregularities, texture, and pore size.

ABLATIVE

The 2940 nm laser provides pure ablation with no bulk heating, tunable from 20 to 100 microns. This superficial ablation decreases healing time through faster clearance of Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris (MENDs) and provides improved results due to an enhanced wound healing response from small ablative injuries.

HALO™ Hybrid Fractional Laser Candidates

If you want to remove the signs of aging from your skin? Then you are a candidate for the HALO™. The HALO™ can be used for various skin tones, bodies, and skin types. Patients can expect remarkable results in 1-2 treatments while older, non-hybrid technology requires 5-6 treatments to display similar texture changes delivered from Halo in terms of pigment correction. The treatment is extremely comfortable, and a topical anesthetic is recommended (no nerve blocks), for a comfortable treatment.

HALO™ Hybrid Fractional Laser  Procedure

Typically a topical numbing cream is applied to the area being treated before the session for your comfort. HALO™ has a built-in cooling technology that helps offset the heat generated by the HALO™ so that you should feel minimal pain during the procedure. You may feel the heat and an occasional light prickling sensation. Eye-wear created for this procedure will also be provided to protect your eyes.

Based on your skin type and individual needs your physician can control depth and wavelength, measure your skin temperature, and the shape of your face, change the density of energy and pulse width, and measure and adjust the scanning speed. This control allows a customer experience tailored to you for optimal results. Halo session length will vary based on your individual needs but in most cases are quick.

HALO™ Hybrid Fractional Laser Recovery

You will notice a bronzing effect on your skin which will begin to peel after a couple of days or so. After 24 hours you can apply makeup. It will take up to 5 days to see the dramatic results of your treatment and up to 6 months to see the full results of a HALO™ treatment.
