Dr. Brown's FAQ's
Where are the incisions made during a facelift?
A facelift procedure involves incisions along the contour of the ears and involves the anatomy of the ear to help conceal them. Additionally, incisions are mind in the hairline of the temple that turns to run behind the earlobe to end 2 cm out of site behind the ear.
Can I get the same results as a facelift with non-surgical options?
There are treatments such as injectables, laser therapy, and chemical peels that help minimize and delay the appearance of aging. However, the results associated with injections, laser treatments, and chemical peels simply aren’t as long-lasting in comparison to a surgical facelift in Burlington. Many patients use nonsurgical alternatives to help delay the need for an actual facelift, but the effects don’t last forever. Oftentimes, we will pair a facelift with another treatment option (such as medical grade control depth peels) to maximize your outcomes. You can schedule a complimentary consultation with our non-surgical aesthetic department at GraceMed Mississauga or GraceMed Burlington to learn more about non-surgical treatment options or a complimentary facelift consultation with Dr. Reza in our Burlington clinic.
How long do the results of a facelift last?
The results of a facelift in Burlington procedure typically last between 7 – 10 years. This can vary from patient to patient.
What is a surgical brow lift?
Also known as a forehead lift, this procedure significantly reduces the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and creases on the area of your brow and forehead, resulting in a younger-looking appearance. It involves the creation of small incisions on each side of your scalp to move the skin upward. Dr. Reza is a specialist in Brow Lifts in Burlington.
What is a neck lift?
A neck lift is a surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia that may address: excess fat and skin laxity in the lower face that creates jowls, excess fat deposits under the chin, loose neck skin, and muscle banding that may create abnormal contours in the neck. You can meet with one of our expert plastic surgeons at GraceMed Mississauga and GraceMed Burlington to learn more if you are a candidate for a neck lift procedure.
Are there non-surgical options to a neck lift?
Yes, there are non-surgical treatments to help alleviate the appearance of loose neck skin as well as fat deposits under the chin. However, non-surgical treatments will only temporarily help minimize the appearance of these concerns. A surgical neck lift will provide immediate more dramatic results. You can meet with a medical aesthetician at GraceMed Mississauga or GraceMed Burlington to learn more about non-surgical treatment options.

Can a neck lift be performed separately from a facelift?
Yes, a neck lift can be performed either simultaneously with a facelift or completely separate from a facelift. A neck lift procedure will greatly compliment a facelift procedure, as both your face and neck will look rejuvenated in appearance. You can schedule a consultation at GraceMed Mississauga or GraceMed Burlington to learn if you are a candidate for both procedures.
Is the downtime more significant when you do a facelift and neck lift together?
If you are interested in doing both procedures, it is typically recommended to do both a facelift and neck lift simultaneously. You will be able to heal simultaneously from both procedures, with similar downtime to a facelift on it’s own (a few weeks). Your GraceMed surgeon will monitor you throughout your healing process to ensure you’re comfortable during your healing process.
How long will the scars from the facelift take to heal?
Facelift scars can be virtually unnoticeable at about 8 weeks following your surgery. Full scar resolution of scars may take up to one year following your surgery.
How long will it take to recover from a facelift?
Everyone’s facelift healing process is unique, so it depends on the person and the specific procedure used, but most patients are able to resume regular activities within a few weeks. At this time, swelling visible to others will have subsided, though you may continue to feel a small amount of swelling for several more weeks as your body heals. Throughout your healing process, you will have regular appointments with your facelift Burlington team at GraceMed to monitor and assist you during your healing process.
How do I know I need a facelift?
The common signs that you might need a facelift are excess skin in your lower jawline and the formation of deep lines on your face. If these signs of aging affect your self-esteem, it is most likely that you will benefit from a facelift. You can schedule a consultation with one of our expert plastic surgeons at GraceMed Mississauga and GraceMed Burlington to learn more if you are a candidate for a facelift procedure. Facelifts in Burlington and Mississauga are performed by Dr. Reza and Dr. McLean.
When are the stitches removed following a facelift and/or neck lift procedure?
Your GraceMed Burlington medical providers will remove most or all of your stitches 7 to 10 days after surgery. However, it’s important to keep in mind that each individual has a unique healing process and your stitches will be removed when you’re at the appropriate healing stage.
