GraceMed Cosmetic Breast Surgery
At Gracemed our goal is to educate and help guide you on your decision to have breast surgery. We want to educate you and answer all your questions during your first consultation. We then choose the right team to assist with your enhancement. We want you to understand all your options and the terminology that goes along with making the right decision for your body and yourself.
Every year, tens of thousands of people in Canada choose to enhance or reduce their breast area to finally achieve the look they’ve been hoping for. Having breast surgery can be a big decision but it doesn’t have to be a daunting process. The more you know, the more confident you’ll feel. Women have strong feelings about their breasts and the way they look. It’s common to want bigger, smaller or perkier breasts — so common, in fact, that breast surgery is among the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures performed today.
Types of Breast Surgery
Breast augmentation enhances your breast size and shape using breast implants. This procedure is best suited for candidates that have uneven breasts or small or have a smaller chest size. Breast augmentation can also help with breasts that have lost elasticity and volume due to pregnancy and breastfeeding.
A breast lift will change the shape and appearance of your breasts. After this procedure implants can be used to give them a larger, voluptuous appearance. The procedures is very much the same as an augmentation but also lifts the excess tissue and skin so that your implants rest at a higher position on the chest resulting in a perkier bust.
Breast reduction surgery can be a life-changing experience. Larger chests or breasts that get in the way of your normal daily activities can benefit from reducing the breast size and mass. This type of surgery can also be used to help ease neck and back pain that may be associated with carrying larger breasts. A breast reduction can also help with chaffing and allow you to participate in physical activities that your larger breasts currently prevent.
Gynecomastia is a condition of overdeveloped or enlarged breasts in men that can occur at any age. This can cause the male chest to look larger, like a female bust. Gynecomastia surgery can help reduce the appearance of male breasts, allowing you to achieve a more masculine appearance.
Many female breast cancer patients visit GraceMed to undergo breast reconstruction surgery, an uplifting and important step on their long road to recovery. The procedure is most often considered a medically necessary surgical procedure that is covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan.
Personalized Breast Surgery Plan
GraceMed tailors your breast surgery plan to your unique concerns. If you are dissatisfied with small or asymmetrical breasts, we can enhance their size and shape with breast implants. Alternatively, if you think your breasts are too large for your frame, and they cause you physical or psychological pain, our doctors can reduce their size and bring them into better proportion with the rest of your body. Alternatively, if you are embarrassed by sagging breasts and downward-pointing nipples, GraceMed can perform a breast lift to reposition your breasts higher on your chest and correct your nipples.
Breast surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, so you will return home the day of your procedure. Anesthesia medications will be administered for your comfort. The doctor will begin by making surgical incisions in the predetermined location (usually around the areola and breast crease). Through the incisions, he will make the necessary surgical modifications: placing implants, removing excess tissue/fat or reshaping the breast mound higher on the chest. When the process is finished, they will close the incisions with sutures and bandage the breast.

Following your consultation with your GraceMed surgeon, you’ll be given detailed instructions for your surgery. This may include eating or drinking restrictions or special washing instructions before surgery. At this time, you’ll have another chance to ask any questions prior to your surgery. For the surgery, you’ll be given general anesthesia. Surgery will be performed and then you’ll be closely monitored until you wake up. Once you’ve met all release requirements, you’ll be on your way home to recover in the comfort of your own home.
