A newspaper once described Dr. Brown as one of “Oakville’s most endeared plastic surgeons” because of his gentle demeanor, compassion and honest approach to every patient’s concerns. What sets Dr. Brown apart is the time and care he gives to each patient. He views plastic surgery as a partnership between himself and his patients. Prior to surgery, he spends time with each patient, reviewing all the options and working out the most reasonable and realistic way to proceed. Dr. Brown graduated from the Schulich School of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. He had a rotating internship at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto which enabled him to gain experience in several medical specialties — one being plastic surgery. Because of the innovation that was required to effectively and safely address the needs of patients, whether they were reconstructive or aesthetic, plastic surgery became his favourite specialty. Pursuing this, Dr. Brown attended plastic surgery resident training, once again at the University of Western Ontario, and received his certification and fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Plastic Surgery in 1987. In addition, Dr. Brown had an additional year of training in complex Hand Surgery at the Sunnybrook Health Services Center and the Workers Safety & Insurance Board of Ontario. Dr. Brown has over 25 years of experience as a plastic surgeon and has a natural flair for achieving beautiful and natural-looking results, so much so that his patients return time and time again to address their other aesthetic concerns. In addition to serving as an Expert Witness for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, he has also been recognized by the world-renowned Department of Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, invited to teach advanced surgical techniques to budding plastic surgeons in their residency training program. Dr. Brown maintains active staff privileges with the Oakville site of Halton Healthcare Services (formerly known as Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital), Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington, the Trillium, and Credit Valley Hospitals in Mississauga, and the Georgetown and Milton locations of Halton Healthcare Services. To express his appreciation to the community of Oakville, Dr. Brown and GraceMed Briarwood Oakville routinely support numerous local service groups and charities. Dr. Stephen Brown is affiliated with a number of prominent professional organizations. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons as well as a member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, where he also serves as an Expert Witness. In addition, he is a member of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Rodger Shortt is a specialist plastic surgeon who graduated from Queen’s Medical School in 2004 and became certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2009. He received further sub-specialty fellowship training with international plastic surgeons in micro-vascular breast reconstruction, cosmetic plastic surgery, and body contouring after bariatric (gastric banding) surgery, significant weight loss, or post-pregnancy. In Canada, Dr. Shortt received fellowship training with Dr. Edward Buchel, from Winnipeg Manitoba, one of the world’s best micro-vascular surgeons. In Melbourne Australia, Dr. Shortt trained with Mr. Howard Webster an expert in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery and the recent past president of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, Mr. Richard Bloom an expert body contouring and reconstructive plastic surgeon, and Dr. Bryan Mendelson a world-renowned facial surgeon. As a result of his strong reputation for surgical and teaching excellence, Dr. Shortt was recruited by McMaster University as the director of the Cosmetic Surgery Training Program. He currently holds the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor. In addition, he teaches qualified plastic surgeons undergoing sub-specialty training (fellowship) his techniques for microsurgical breast reconstruction, fat grafting, and cosmetic surgery. As part of his commitment to teaching and ensuring the safety of patients, he helps design the questions used by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada to test the chief residents sitting their final exam in plastic surgery. He is also an instructor for Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced Musculoskeletal Limb Support. Dr. Rodger Shortt has received considerable recognition in his academic career. At Queen’s Medical School, he was the recipient of the Rattray Scholarship in Ophthalmology, the Bracken Award for Academic Achievement, and the Queen’s University Award in Surgery. During his plastic surgery residency at McMaster University, he was a recipient of the Best Clinical Research Paper. Dr. Shortt has been actively involved in plastic surgery research, has been invited to present his research at national and international conferences, and has published articles in key medical journals. In addition to cosmetic surgery, Dr. Rodger Shortt is highly trained in reconstructive surgery, including skin cancers, micro-vascular surgery, trauma, hand surgery, and the treatment of Dupuytren’s disease. Committed to providing his community with high-quality patient care, Dr. Shortt has hospital privileges at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and Georgetown Hospital, in addition to Burlington, Mississauga, Milton, and Hamilton.
Although Jenny has been with us since 2004, she has been a Cosmetic Nurse Specialist since 1998, when she first realized that she “felt good to make people feel good”. Jenny is recognized as a pioneer in the aesthetic medical field in Canada and has served as a trainer for a number of leading injectable products. She was there in the beginning, before BOTOX® became the most popularly performed procedure in the world (according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons) and when the only type of filler available was collagen. For over 15 years, Jenny has actively participated in the evolution of aesthetic medicine from simple wrinkle-filling to what it has become today: natural improvement of the whole face. Her approach of taking time to personally know you, listening to your needs, and informing you of your array of options serves to foster patient confidence in your care. This inherently honest approach has won her the accolades and appreciation of her patients and has helped many achieve satisfaction within their expectations. In fact, many of Jenny’s patients have been with her for 10 years and more! Jenny has performed so many treatments to such a high level of satisfaction that she is currently the Number Two Top Injector in Southwestern Ontario according to Allergan (the makers of BOTOX® and Juvéderm®). This ranking includes multi-injector practices. Her philosophy: “We are the age we are…we just want to look good for that age!”Because Jenny believes in providing you with the best possible product for your unique physiology and concern, she has been trained and certified to administer a complete range of injectables:
During your pre-treatment consultation, she will listen to your goals and customize a treatment plan that fully addresses your needs. This is particularly important since it’s your goal that she’ll strive to achieve. Jenny never decides what you want–you decide what you want, and she helps you achieve it. She is so confident in her abilities that Jenny offers a BOTOX® guarantee.
